Lost and Found

I have been trying to organize all my threads...the DMC were really in a mess...if only I would learn to put things away when I am done with stitching a design...maybe someday! Anyway, in between  sorting threads, when my eyes started crossing, I decided to also start to go through my boxes of patterns.

It was like Christmas all over again!I found so many designs that I forgot I had, more duplicates than I care to admit to, some designs that I know I will never stitch, but many more that have gone straight into the "need to stitch soon" basket. I am thinking about making a page here with charts for sale, and maybe having a giveaway or two as well.

But I also found something else that was not so nice. I have at least a few designs that are missing parts. For example, I have one sampler pattern all kitted up. It's one I started a couple of years ago, I think. But the fabric with my stitching on it has disappeared! I know that I have seen it,  maybe in the last year?...but where is it now???? And then I have two prim designs from primitiveBetty that I started...I have the stitched fabric for these, and the cover sheets and instructions for the patterns, but the patterns have disappeared!

And these are only a few...I'm wondering how many other lost treasures I will come across! Not to mention the little bags of threads and fabric that I know were bought for a specific project, but I'll be hard pressed to remember which project that might be...

Has this ever happened to anyone else, or am I just hopelessly disorganized??? I'm a librarian for goodness sake! I get paid to be organized!

I'm sure all the bits and pieces will find their proper homes and everything will re-appear at some point in time...don't you think?

Thanks for taking the time to visit today!

  2. OH yeah...story of my stitching life! I in fact have two little Michael's bags of various floss colours and I have NO idea which project I had bought them for.

  3. Generally I am very organized, but this has happened to me also. I think we have the same faeries living in our craft closet!

  4. Isn't it fun to find things we forgot we had. The missing items will show up when your not looking for them.

  5. Haha, Lynda, we seem to have the same problem. But after a while everything turns up again, mostly in bags together with a different project. And I go with what Linsa says - it's such a lot of fun to discover charts and projects that I didn't know that I have them. It's like browsing through a store, lol.

  6. Yeah I have the same problem with putting threads back when I'm done, glad I'm not alone :-)
I'm sure your missing charts and work will turn up in the most unlikely of places, when you are not looking for them, is't that always the way, lol

  7. I'm usually quite organised but sometimes find a chart or two in an unexpected place! Hope you get organised soon.

  8. I think it's our analytical minds from work cutting loose and having fun! I get paid to be highly organized too and my craft room tends to get a little edgy sometimes. But it's fun to explore and find new stuff. I keep all my threads on big rings in floss away bags by company. Then when I want to kit up I have a ring for that project and transfer them. I try hard to put them back when I am done but sometimes those gremlins get in there.

  9. Recently, I lost my mid sized embroidery hoop. Can't find it any where. I have no clue where it could be hiding. So irritating that I ordered a new one, square shaped and the twill to wrap the inner ring. You know what that means.......the lost one will show up the hour I have that new one wrapped and ready to go.

  11. You are too funny. I go through the same thing - and am continuously surprised when I find something I forgot I purchased. Kind of like Christmas.
