who's lost that stitchy feeling?

Loretta at Stitching the Night Away has started a blog hop...sounds like fun! This is the first prompt:

Have you ever had a case of the “stitching blahs” where you just didn’t want to stitch? Or maybe it was more like you didn’t get to stitch because you were busy and that created a chain reaction sense of the “blahs” and led to even less stitching…. sort of like a case of “the Mondays” that we are all familiar with. How do you handle your stitching blahs and get back into stitching mode?

This does happen to me from time to time...usually because a) I have tired of the piece I am stitching on and need a break (in which case I just start yet another project which gets added to my growing pile of WIPs and UFOs!) b) we are just too busy with family things and time slips away or c) I am so pooped after working all day that I just fall asleep in the comfy chair. Usually when I am that tired I pick up a book and try to read instead of stitch, because I have found that it is much less painful to fall asleep with a book in your hands than with a needle and thread! Ouchy!

But one thing I have noticed, is that even if I am not actually stitching, I am thinking about stitching....browsing on-line shops, reading stitchy blogs, thinking about what I'd like to stitch next, playing with my stash...those kinds of things. And before I know it, another new project appears and I am back in the comfy chair...this time with needle and thread (and awake!).

  1. Hi

I've joined the blog hop too!

I like the way you get motivated by looking at your stash, reading stitchy blogs etc.
I don't usually get the blahs unless I'm forced to unpick the same piece again and again.

  2. I don't know if I've lost the stitchy feeling or I'm having a fit of startitis. I've started four projects in the last couple weeks and put them down so maybe I have lost the feeling.

  3. Window shopping and playing with my stash keep me interested when I'm not actually stitching, and reading stitchy blogs helps too :)

  6. Hey!

I wanted to join this too, but I can't make the codes work. They just show as a codes on my posts rather than being widgets. How did you manage to make it look like it should?
    Thanks :)

  7. Starting new projects or browsing the net for stitchy stuff are sure fire ways to chase the blahs away. :)

  9. Happens to me every summer, because in the summer I prefer sitting on the deck chair in my garden and read. But it's easy to get back in the swing of stitching when I go through my magazines and charts. Or I go through my basket of WIPs and there's always at least one that calls my name, lol. At the moment I could stitch day and night, without interruption. The bad thing is that life gets in the way in the form of my job, lol.

  10. I never really noticed before but you are so right! When I am not stitching I am thinking about it and browsing the net looking for new charts and fibers! ;) Guess that is why I have way more stash then I can ever hope to finish!

  11. It is definitely the first one. A, that is. When I am not in the mood for stitching, I may knit.
